Well, it’s been a while since our blog has been updated. A lot of things happened in our lives, so I’ll give a brief recap of the past seven months.
1. Summer Trip to EA
I co-led a team with my senior pastor to EA this summer and it was filled with many blessings. Not only did the team from the States mesh well, but the work we were able to accomplish was memorable. Two came to know Christ during our time there. It was amazing to see God’s salvation plan at work.
2. Family Trip To EA
This summer was unique because Jen and Haddon came after the summer team left. We spent a week in EA, exploring the city as a family, visiting friends, and gathering as much information as possible for our move. It was very eventful, especially as we got to experience going to an international hospital because of Haddon’s accident.
3. A Small Move Before the Big Move
Our lease ended in our one-bedroom apartment in August. Prior to August, Jen and I were looking for an apartment. It came down to the wire, but we were able to find a place that suited our needs and our budget. Just another evidence of His grace and answered prayers.
4. Start/Finish of My Last Semester at TMS
The last six months started and ended my last semester at The Master’s Seminary. It took 5.5 years to finish my M.Div and complete a significant portion of my Th.M, and it was all worth it. Though the drive was bad and the work hard, I can say that I would do it all again. One of the common dangers of seminary is an absence of growing affections for Christ. It was a battle, but continual prayers, awareness, and just the sheer grace of God allowed for my affections for Christ deepen.
5. Haddon Turning One
This was a significant event in our family’s young history. Significant because we survived Haddon’s first year, and it’s a big deal in Korean culture to have a celebration. It was a lot of work to plan while studying for school. I will continually thank God for Jen’s persistence in planning and executing Haddon’s birthday party well.
6. Cafe Night
Our church hosted a Cafe Night fundraiser for us and the team that is coming with us in March. It was a fun night as various people performed. In talking with our team, the one continual aspect that we were tremendously blessed by was the time of prayer. I’m paraphrasing here, but one of our teammates said, “It was surreal to think that the entire room was praying for us.” It’s a night that we will never forget.
7. Ordination
So this happened. If you were to tell me seven years ago that I would be an ordained pastor, I would’ve laughed in your face or sprayed water at you if I was drinking water. It’s humbling, but also sobering to understand the seriousness of this lifetime decision. I’m utterly grateful to have a church that prayed and invested into my life. The leaders at BCC have shaped me into who I am and I’m so thankful and indebted to God for them.
Overall, it’s been a busy season in our lives and it’s only going to get busier as we make our transition to EA. Looking forward to seeing what God will do through our lives!
