Merry belated Christmas to everyone! I have to apologize for the lack of updates or posts on our blog (especially on my end). As an English lit major, you would think that writing would come naturally. But to be honest, I consider myself a poser in this field. I hate writing, and unless I’m in the right “mood” to write, I’m not naturally inclined to pour out my thoughts in written words.
Anyway, since the year is about to end, I think it’ll be good to just recap what’s been going on in our lives over the past four months!
1. OTS –> Philippians
One of the first updates is that we finally concluded the Old Testament Survey with our group. It was pretty arduous and cause for a lot of perseverance, but I’m glad that we went through such an important section of Scripture together.
Following the conclusion of the OTS, I asked what book we should cover next. It was a choice between 1 John and Philippians, and in the end, Philippians won out. It’s been great going through this book that is, not only centered around joy, but also remembering what true gospel partnership looks like. I’ve been thoroughly encouraged in our study through this book (which I think I’ve told them many times. Haha.)
2. Holiday Gatherings
We recently had time to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas, which meant a lot of good food and fellowship. We were grateful and blessed by Flo and Cindy coming to celebrate Thanksgiving with us, and to follow up with some of their friends. We’re also very grateful for the gifts they brought from BCC and the M-Care team. I do apologize that there wasn’t some FB post recognizing those gifts, but know that they were put to good use!
We also celebrated Christmas with people from our study group. It was a small dinner and we sang some Christmas songs and fellowshipped. A low key event with the heightened security risk because of the holiday season. Our friends did all the ordering, so we just had to provide the rice.
3. Family
Haddon has really enjoyed his school so far. We’ve really enjoyed this co-op, and it has provided a tremendous opportunity to be part of a community of families for Haddon’s education. We even had a party to celebrate Christmas. Haddon got to perform (along with his classmates) and I was “volunteered” to be an MC for a portion of the event.
Ryle is growing up fast! I think I’ve come to love this stage in development the most because they are still cute enough to play with, yet immobile enough that they can’t get away from you (if you’re paying attention). It makes me sad to think he’ll continue to grow, but it also causes me to appreciate him and the unique dynamic he adds to our family’s witness. I love this kid and I keep praying that he’ll have the same heart as the man we named him after.
3. KFC Tuesdays
Affectionately, I call my Tuesdays “KFC Tuesdays” because I meet up with a collegian every Tuesday at KFC. We’ve had good GN conversations however, about a month ago, he stopped showing interest in the GN. Even though we stopped discussing the GN, we still meet every Tuesday for lunch and I’m hoping I’m speaking g-wisdom into his life. Please pray for him that his heart and mind would be softened to the GN.
4. Future
We’ll be heading back to the States soon to visit and, when we return, we’ll have a better idea of what’s to come for our future. It’ll be good to see you when we return, especially since we didn’t get to see everyone last year. We’re appreciative of all the support, messages, and the prayers.
See you all in 2018!
